People for Progress Foundation (PFPF) has embarked on a new program, which is an infrastructure build located in the community of Makuyuni, Tanzania.
In that community, PFPF is overseeing the distribution of funds and managing quality control for the building of a dormitory for children that attend Nashipay Maasai School. Nashipay Maasai School is a primary school for grades from preschool to class 7 for all Maasai children in the Arusha region.
The school has affordable tuition and provides bursaries for children living below the Maasai poverty line. Many of those children are from rural communities and live considerable distances away from the school. Daily travel to and from school makes attending school challenging for them.
The dormitory will benefit Nashipay Maasai School children who are currently living in the neighbouring community and beyond by allowing them to move into a safe and nurturing environment during the school year and not have to risk potential harm traveling to and from the school each day. The families of these children will be given peace of mind and will also benefit from the education and contributions of their young people.
The new dormitory is crucial step in ensuring that Nashipay Maasai School students can become active, contributing members of society. Students at the Nashipay Maasai School will have the opportunity to learn and to participate in the life of the school and farm while acquiring business and social skills enabling them to become confident, well-informed adults, future leaders and workers in the community.
The Construction of the Substructure for the Nashipay Maasai School Dormitory officially began on the 17th of December 2020 and is due to be completed by the end of March 2021. The land was donated by the village elders. The first phase of construction has been completed and the second phase is ongoing.
The Maasai Conservation Fund, the Nashipay Maasai School Management Committee and parents of the children studying at Nashipay Maasai School thank People for Progress Foundation and its constituents for its role in ensuring the quality of planning and construction and for overseeing the distribution of funds for construction of the Dormitory.
People for Progress Foundation acknowledges the participation of the Calgary Foundation, Snowflake Flow Through Fund, Maasai Conservation Fund and other contributors on the Nashipay Maasai School dormitory project. Funding for the initial classroom buildings were raised through the efforts of Victoria, B.C. based For the Love of Africa and associates who continue to support the ongoing school project.
